The Sr. Buyer is responsible for quoting, negotiating and placing purchase orders for required materials in support of the Manufacturing Plan Maintains supplier relations and insures quality material is purchased at the best price to support production schedules and inventory targets. Performs complex tasks with minimal supervision.
Responsible for the technical and business management of a prime program or programs. Responsible for interaction with the customer and for financial, schedule, and technical performance on his/her assigned program(s). Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Direct customer contact and relationships are utilized to ensure Customer contracts achieve Customer Satisfaction for assigned Customers, Products or Region. Requires regular customer interface and then ensuring Operations and Palomar departments are aligned for on-time delivery of quality product to the Customer. Works on medium to high levels of complex programs that are built to print, require moderate to high levels NRE, or internal programs. Interacts with customers to find new applications of our products. Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract. Develops new business or expands the product line with the customer.
Establishes a material and kitting plan for all assigned projects by attending all necessary kickoff meetings, consulting with the Director of Operations for overall planning and maintaining an intimate relationship with the Operations Manager for everyday tactical needs. Using the above information, material lead times and by understanding the bill of material initiates the proper material transfers and then supports the MRP reports by creating the necessary work orders and purchase requisitions to meet the established delivery schedules. Maintains a Work in Process (WIP) status report and supports periodic production control meetings with all necessary and up-to-date project material and work order information. Initiates necessary corrective actions for material and kitting problems. Supports productivity initiatives and drives improvements in overall manufacturing processes, prioritizes operations and quality department’s work in progress. Supports and helps maintain inventory levels for all products. Works with program management and business unit leaders to ensure revenue plan and program deliverables are met.
