PALOMAR PRODUCTS' MILITARY SWITCHES ARE PART OF A SUCCESSFUL SUBMARINE SEA TRIAL September, 1996 - Palomar Products' Military Switch Systems were part of the initial sea trials ofo the first Seawolf Submarine (SSN21) which were concludedon July 5, 1996 with tremendous success. This was a significant moment for the entire submarine industry as the world's most advanced submarine demonstrated unmatched capability at sea. The equipment that Palomar Products has installed in the Seawolf radio room is the SA-2112C Antenna Distribution System and the SA-2112D/E Submarine Communication Switching System (SCSS). According to reports received from the Navy, the entire radio room, including our switching systems, performed extremely well. The SA-2112C/D/E have been baselined for the SSN21 Class Submarine, and they will be installed on the other two Seawolfs (SSN22 and SSN23) as they become available. They feature a unique automated computer control, non-blocking architecture and built-in-test. The SA-2112C provides such features as the distribution and control of radio frequency (RF) signals, signal conditioning, EMP protection and impedance matching, while the SA-2112D/E provides secure and non-secure switching of voice and data signals. Ed Bender, Sales Manager for the Military Switch Product Line stated, "We are proud of the performance of our systems during the Seawolf sea trials, and equally proud to be a part of the nation's submarine industrial base - a vastnetwork of suppliers made up of more than 2,500 companies spanning 44 states."
