Military Switch Products' Airborne Switch Selected for Navy Development Program March, 1997 - Military Switch Products' AN/AIC-39 Airborne Intercommunications System (ICS) has been selected by the US Navy for installation on a Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) aircraft as part of a unique development program. The program, known as the NP-3D Aircraft Modification Program is designed to test the Navy's new Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) concept. It is unique from the standpoint that it utilizes the communications suite of one Navy aircraft, the E-2C, on the platform of another aircraft, the P-3. Also unique to the program is the variety of companies and Navy activities who are participants. Palomar Products is under subcontract to Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems in Marietta, GA for the ICS. However, Northrop Grumman Corp. (Bethpage, NY), two Program Officers from NAVAIR (Naval Sea Systems Command), as well as a number of other subcontractors, are major participants in the Program. Testing of the system is anticipated to take place near the end of this year. In commenting on Palomar Products' participation in the NP-3D Program, Ed Bender, Sales Manager, said, "We are very pleased to have been selected by the Navy and Lockheed Martin to provide the ICS for this very important test platform. It is a challenge we welcome, and we look forward to working with such a diverse group of aircraft professionals." The AN/AIC-39 is one of the mainstays of Palomar Products' airborne intercommunications systems. It has been installed on a number of military aircraft, and is currently in production for installation on the Royal Australian Air Force's AP-3C. Contact: |
