Military Switch Products are Significant Contributors to the Success of the May, 1997 - On May 5, 1997, Palomar Products' Military Switch Division celebrated, along with prime contractor Raytheon E-Systems, Waco, the completion of a major upgrade to the E-6A Take Charge and Move Out (TACAMO) aircraft. This upgrade (designated E-6B) provides performance improvements and avionics enhancements. The E-6B program was established to upgrade TACAMO operational capabilities and crossdeck as subset of the Strategic Command's (STRATCOM's) E-135 Airborne Command Post (ABNCP) equipment to the E-6A aircraft. The modified aircraft (E-6B) will be capable of performing both the TACAMO and ABNCP missions. Palomar Products provided a fully military qualified intercommunications system (ICS). The AIC-32 ICS provides internal and external communications in high to super high frequency bands for the flight deck and mission operators. It successfully interfaces with complex equipment including MILSTAR ANDVT, STU-III, and Digital Airborne Intercommunications Switching System. At the "roll-out" ceremony in Waco, Texas, Raytheon vice president and general manager, Glenn Hood, commended efforts of the E-6B program team and Palomar Products. Contact: |
